In an engaging collaboration, ATAM Audio had the privilege of providing location sound services for “On the Tee with Julius Erving.” This unique project featured Hally Leadbetter of Golf Digest playing a three-hole match with NBA legend Dr. J, Julius Erving, during which he shared insights into his illustrious career, legacy, and thoughts on golf. The project highlighted ATAM Audio’s adeptness in capturing high-quality audio in challenging, uncontrolled environments.

The Challenge of Dynamic Sports Interviews

Shooting on an active golf course presented a significant challenge from an audio perspective. The need for mobility and an organic interview style required our team to be exceptionally adaptable, ensuring the capture of clean audio while on the move. Through innovative solutions and careful planning, ATAM Audio was able to overcome these obstacles, demonstrating our flexibility and commitment to quality.

Solutions and Technologies for Pristine Audio Capture

To ensure the success of this project, we employed a MixPre-10ii for its scene labeling capabilities and a Neumann KMR 81 microphone for its superior audio quality. These tools were crucial in navigating the complexities of a live, outdoor shoot, allowing us to deliver crystal-clear sound throughout the day’s filming.

The project was completed over a full day, part of a multi-project shoot week, without the need for retakes thanks to our team’s expertise and the reliability of our equipment. The result was a seamless shooting process that met Golf Digest’s high standards and showcased ATAM Audio’s proficiency in location sound services.
